Is As-syafi'iyah Islamic University Less Popular?

Nowadays, many teenagers want to study at a popular campuses, so they try their best to got their favorite one. A popular campus requires a large area, beautiful buildings and adequate facilities. The aesthetics of the building is also one of the goals of many teenagers choosing a popular campuses. 


Do you got your favorite campus that you have been dreaming of in your entire life? 


In Indonesia, there are many favorite campuses become a target for new college students, such as the University of Indonesia, Gajah Mada University, and many more, one of it is an Islamic campus such as the State Islamic University (UIN). 


There's also many Islamic campus in Indonesia, not only UIN, but such as As-syafi'iyah Islamic University. But have you ever heard about it? 


Is As-Syafi'iyah Islamic University less popular? 


In the beginning, As-syafi-iyah Islamic University is an academic with a name AKPI, which is founded on November 14, 1965 by K.H Abdullah Syafi'ie and it became an University at March 12, 1969. Students who registered in the first academic year was 260 people, and continues to grow every year. During the formation period in 1965-1977, this period was managed according to the principles of K.H Abdullah Syafi'ie with his iconic slogan;

"على قدريل معونة تعتيل معونة" 


According to the results of the calculations in the journal written by Fahmi Kamal, Widi Winarso, Lia Mardiani from the Scientific Journal of Accounting and Management 16 (1), 33-45, 2020. As many as 0.896 FKIP students felt the quality of service and satisfaction in the 'very satisfied' category. This is based on the results of the correlation coefficient between 0.80-1000. 


Meanwhile, based on my general observations, quite a lot of people have made negative comments about UIA, especially regarding the facilities and administration. The comments I got on the Google rating site, one of them was like this; "The AC is not cold, the class is clean, the lecturers are on time, the semester payment system is not optimal (I have paid but I haven't paid on the computer, oh my) even though the payment is quite good, the payment system is 1 star, even though it's already semester 4 here and there has been no development regarding payment."

The comment was posted a month ago. 


So, is this one of the cause that As-syafi'iyah Islamic University is less popular?


In my opinon, As-syafi'iyah Islamic University just is only popular among its surrounding only. One of the cause is because there also another University that stand near from UIA, which is Krisna Dwipayana University (UNKRIS) and Bina Sarana Informatics University (BSI). Both of this university is having a better facility but also have a lack of itself. Not only just a large area, UNKRIS also have a pretty and aesthetic views for student even didn't have a lot of major in it. My suggestion is that UIA should be better in providing facilities and also managing administration fees, likewise, the way to promote, should be promoted as creatively as possible. 


The conclusion of all is, UIA needs to fix some small things that affect the development of the university. Not only that, UIA is also among the campuses that are no less popular among the people, namely BSI and UNKRIS. [FA]
